Eyes of the Heart
This book of poems offers glimpses of God in His mystery and beauty. They are written in meditative, lyrical style. The author's unique, poetic voice surprises with fresh sightings of God in the unexpected. The writing is luminous and compelling, yet the poems are accessible without being didactic.
A word from the author: My very ancient ancestor, Sir William Skipwith, was a poet who wrote the following words, "I should like to write poems neither so apparent that every rustic might understand them, nor so obscure that they need an Oedipus to interpret them." I also strive to write within that narrow margin between deliberate obscurity and excessive ornamentation of predictable cliche. Most of all, I am keenly aware that my subject is God, and that I tread upon very Holy and fearful ground, for I am, like all of us, fully human. I dare not write, except from the heart, where one might listen to the echoes of the Holy and then risk shaping what is heard into words.
